CHERYL grew up in the D.C. area and has seen Washington change a great deal over the years. Having traveled nationally for her work and internationally for fun, she still thinks D.C. is one of the most fascinating cities in the world. Cheryl had a career as a K-12 educator both as a classroom teacher and at national leadership organizations. Her work at Washington Walks helps her not only share the city she loves, but also to continue her own education journey.
Where would you take an out-of-town visitor and why? “My favorite place to take friends who visit me is the Frederick Douglass House in Anacostia because it’s a fascinating site in a part of the city few people visit. It’s close to my home in Southwest DC and was a place I didn’t discover until I moved into the city seven years ago. The grounds also have a fabulous view of the city.”
