Goodnight, Mr. Lincoln
One of America’s most revered presidents, Abraham Lincoln, is honored in an imposing “temple” at
the terminus of the National Mall. Since its dedication in 1922 the Abraham
Lincoln Memorial has come to evoke the 16th president’s association not only
with the American Civil War, but also the quest for civil rights. This walk
brings the man behind this legacy to life for children by taking a
kid’s-eye-view of Mr. Lincoln and his place in our shared history. Stories,
games and props describe young Abe’s boyhood, touching on the qualities that
inspired him to become president. You'll leave knowing why Mr. Lincoln grew a
beard, the size of his humble log cabin, what his pajamas were like--and more!
